IUL & Cash Value

IUL books, YouTube channels and courses agents mention, and how to vet any of them

New agents ask which book or channel to learn IUL from. The list changes; the way to vet a source doesn't. Here's the test agents on the floor apply.

Signs of a source worth your time.

  • It shows the guaranteed column and the charges page, not just the illustrated rate.
  • It explains what a cap, a participation rate and a floor are before it explains why the product is great.
  • It mentions the cases where whole life or term is the better answer.
  • It talks about the MEC line and the 7-pay test in plain English.
  • The person teaching it has clients who've held the product for ten years, and says so.

Signs of a source to skip.

  • 'Tax-free retirement' in the title and no mention of cost of insurance.
  • A single illustrated rate presented as what the client will get.
  • The course ends with a link to join the teacher's downline.
  • Every objection is answered with 'the banks buy it'.

Where to learn it regardless of the source. The carrier's own product training and illustration software. Run fifty illustrations at three rates for three ages before you ever present one. The pattern you see in the charges is the education.

Post the book or channel that taught you the most, and one thing it got wrong. Both halves, please.
