Allianz Life IUL: index options, bonuses and what to explain about the participation rate
by InsuraCentralStaff17d ago3 views
Allianz is a name agents meet in both the IUL and the annuity rooms. On the IUL side it's known for a wide menu of index allocations and for interest bonus features.
The product. Indexed universal life with multiple index options, including volatility-controlled indices, and a bonus structure that adds to credited interest under certain conditions. Caps, participation rates and bonus terms vary by allocation and can change on in-force policies within contract limits.
What to explain. Participation rate and cap on the allocation the client actually picks, the bonus and what it's contingent on, and the cost-of-insurance curve. Volatility-controlled indices smooth returns and can lower the cap; the client should understand that trade.
Where it fits. Accumulation-focused designs for clients who will fund the policy properly and want index diversification.
Illustration. Run the conservative column and the guaranteed column next to the mid-rate column. The bonus makes the max-rate column look strong; don't sell the max-rate column.
Process. E-application, underwriting on the standard timeline, illustration signatures.
Client conversation. A large, recognized global insurer; the ratings are easy to show.
Which allocation are you steering clients toward, and how do you explain a participation rate above 100 percent without overselling it?
