Non-resident licenses, CE and appointments: the annual maintenance calendar

The paperwork that quietly lapses and takes your ability to sell with it.

Resident license. Renewal period and CE hours vary by state, with ethics hours usually required. Put the due date on the calendar the day you get the license.

Non-resident licenses. One per state you sell in, each with its own renewal cycle, usually tied to your resident renewal but not always. Selling across a state line without one is the classic avoidable violation.

Carrier appointments. Some terminate for inactivity. If you haven't written a carrier in a while, check the appointment before you present.

E&O. Annual renewal, and most carriers require proof.

Anti-money laundering and product training. Annual for many carriers, mandatory before selling annuities and certain life products.

Medicare certifications, if you sell it, every year before AEP.

The system that works: one spreadsheet or CRM calendar with every license, state, carrier, course and policy, its expiration, and a reminder 60 days out. Post what's on yours that isn't on this list.
